For 7-year-old Hannah Kopek, meeting fellow diabetic Nick Jonas was almost as thrilling as raising $1,500 for diabetes research.
Posters of Nick hang all over the of Plainfield girl’s room, broadcasting to the world he is her favorite Jonas Brother. “Because we’re fighting together for a cure for diabetes,” Hannah said. “And because he’s the cutest.”
On July 10, Hannah met the Jonas Brothers backstage at the Allstate Arena in Chicago after winning a drawing for two tickets and passes. The drawing was an incentive for Hannah and walkers like her to form a walk team for the American Diabetes Association’s “Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes” and raise $500 by June 30.
“We were sitting at the airport on our way for vacation in Florida when we learned we won,” said Hannah’s mother, Kristine Kopek. “I never thought she’d win. There were five other walks and so many people competing for the same opportunity. It was kind of a long shot, so we were shocked. She was so excited, I can’t even describe it.”
Although still basking in the thrill of talking to Nick Jonas, Hannah’s focus now is persuading as many people as possible to donate to her team.
Her message is a simple one. “Please support my cause,” Hannah said.
To donate to Hannah’s team — Lil’ Fighters for Life — visit www.diabetes.org/stepout. That team will walk Oct. 3 at Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm in Homer Glen.
Hannah’s storyHannah’s problems began last fall when she went through a “picky eater” stage and complained about stomach upset. Kristine sensed a greater problem the day Hannah drank several cartons of milk and asked for more.“She said she was still thirsty,” Kristine said. “Her blood sugar was so high she was admitted to the ICU.”
The first two months after Hannah’s diagnosis with Type I diabetes was a roller coaster of insulin injections to reduce her blood sugar to normal levels, followed by hypoglycemia and tiny amounts of candy to raise the abnormally low blood sugar levels. An insulin pump eliminated many of these problems
“I’m feeling pretty healthy, but sometimes I don’t feel that well,” Hannah said. “Then my mom checks my blood sugar, gives me Sweet Tarts and checks again. That usually makes me feel better.”
Kristine, too, is encouraged by Hannah’s progress. “She’s like a normal kid who’s able to have a normal lifestyle,” she said. “Her weight went from 37 to 44 pounds.”
Raising money, awareness
To help understand Hannah’s disease, Kristine joined The American Diabetes Association. When she learned about its walk through its monthly magazine, Kris knew she wanted to help.
“For the last three or four years, I took part in Relay for Life with either the walk or the fundraising,” Kristine said. “I had a friend and an aunt that died from cancer, so I felt this was something I wanted to be a part of. We formed Lil’ Fighters for Life with another kid in first grade at another school in the same district. My daughter’s best friend is walking, too.”
After Hannah learned about the Jonas Brothers incentive, she set her sights on the minimum fundraising requirement and forged ahead with her goal. With Kristine, Hannah canvassed her neighborhood and solicited family and friends.
When she attained the coveted $500, Hannah strived for $1,200. When she reached that amount, Hannah again raised her goal.
Kristine said they completed one fundraiser for the walk and are planning a second one.
But, most of all, Kristine is proud of her daughter’s determination and accomplishments.
“She understands a lot for a 7-year-old,” Kristine said.

Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus in "Gidget" Remake?!!

According to CinemaBlend, two Disney stars names have been attached to the remake of “Gidget”. Most likely, none of you have any idea what “Gidget” is. I’ve heard of it, but have no idea what it really is. All I know is that “The movies were a part of the long since dead surfer culture craze”. Hmmm…interesting.
Supposedly, Miley Cyrus is already attached to the film and she will be in the titular Gidget role which once belonged to Sally Fields. The original films were what launched Sally Fields into stardom.
Now we are hearing, that Zac Efron has been approached to play a modern day Frankie Avalon, which would be Miley’s character’s love interest in the movie. The film will be a musical comedy. Given Efron’s latest moves and comment, letting go of the Footloose role and saying he wants to be taken more serious as an actor, would lead us all to think this is not a role he would go for.

Joe Jonas CRYING!!!

In a fan video Joe Jonas was crying onstage in Detroit on July 26, 2009 while singing “Gotta Find You” after breaking up with Camilla Belle earlier that week. Joe Camilla Breakup!

Joe Jonas and his actress girlfriend Camilla Belle have broken up and Joe has been making a point of singing about the breakup onstage for the last week.

Last night during a Jonas Brothers concert in Detroit, Joe changed the lyrics to his song, “Much Better,” to reflect his breakup with Camilla Belle.

Joe Jonas switched the lyrics from “Get a rep for breakin’ hearts, now I’m done with superstars” to “Get a rep for breakin hearts, now I’m done with movie stars.”

Additionally, he changed “now I see everything I’d ever need is the girl in front of me” to “girls in front of me.”

Perez Hilton reports that at a show in Boston a week earlier, he also took off the necklace that Camilla reportedly gave him during the breakup song.

The much-talked about “Much Better” track was widely believed to be about Joe Jonas’ breakup with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Joe began dating Camilla Belle last year after she appeared on the Jonas Brothers “Love Bug” music video.

Since neither Joe Jonas or Camilla Belle ever confirmed their relationship in the first place, a breakup announcement is not likely, but Joe singing about it onstage makes it officially a breakup song.

But what I don't get is that I heard Joe changed the lyrics of 'Much Better' to: "now I'm done with country stars."!! But now the word is he changed them to: "now I'm done with movie stars."??!! I don't get which one did he say?!

Jonas Brotherly Love!

Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas took a break from touring to support their kid brother Frankie at the premiere for Ponyo in Hollywood last night! They’re all SO proud of Frankie, who provided a voice in this cool animated movie, and showed up full force. Family is so important for the Jonas Brothers and they wouldn’t have missed this for anything. Ponyo comes out in theaters everywhere on August 14th. Are YOU gonna go see it?!

Hugh And Miley Team Up For "Personal Security"!

I am not sure how I missed this bit of news, but it looks like Hugh Jackman and Miley Cyrus are teaming up for a remake of “The Bodyguard” in “Personal Security”.
Hugh and Miley were spotted having lunch together a few weeks ago and people were speculating that he was offering her a role in the next X-Men movie. Now sources are saying they were talking about “Personal Security”.
Jackman will play a New York police detective hired to bodyguard a spoiled teen heiress (Cyrus) after she receives a kidnap threat.
The film is set for a release sometime in 2011. So that makes three movies for Miley Cyrus: The Last Song (which she is currently filming), Wings and Personal Security. She is one busy, busy girl!

Miley Cyrus twittered up a storm yesterday, uploading pictures of she and her little brother, Braison. Miley tweets, “How ironic. My brother is wearing all black and I am wearing all white. Story of our life together. =] Brothers and sisters are as similar as hands and feet.”
I just asked my brother to start a band with me. He replied with “Sorry. I’m to good for you.” Wow. My little brother doing what he does best. CREEPING ME OUT! =] Love ya.

Demi Lovato uploaded some images on Twitter late last night, but it looks like she was having some issues! “Twitpic hates me,” she writes.

Demi Chats Her Friendship With Miley!

In the September issue of Sugar Magazine, Demi Lovato chats about her friendship with Miley Cyrus. It’s been obviously from their tweets, that the two of them have gotten really close.
Whether it has to do with the fact that Miley’s brother Trace and Demi were supposedly linked romantically, or just the fact that they have a lot in common, doesn’t matter. These two have become very close and it sounds like they have a great friendship.
In the interview Demi said, “Miley – who I call Dragon from our favorite film Step Brothers – has been amazing. We talk every day and she’s given me so much advice. Recently she sent me this four page text message encouraging me and telling me she has faith in me. It was so inspiring and made me feel great – because I do get overwhelmed by the paps sometimes.”

Miley's Interview With The Dallas Star Telegram!

The Dallas Star Telegram sat down with Miley Cyrus while she was in Manhattan recently. They talked about everything from her music influences, what she would do if she wasn’t in show business and what she does to relax and have fun.

On her musical inspirations: I love Coldplay and the Killers and John Lennon — all dudes, because I have a low voice. I do, I like that sound because it is a little more edgy.

On the best and worst thing about being famous: The best thing is the traveling and meeting new people, and the worst thing is the traveling. It is the best and worst because I am away from home all the time. Also it is fun to meet new people and see new things and go places that you probably wouldn’t be able to go.

On what else she would do if she wasn’t in show business: I would like to be a photographer. And, honestly, I am the worst painter, but if I could be anything I would want to be a painter, but I can’t paint so that X’s that out. I really wish I could draw well because I just think it is the coolest. My brother’s roommate is a painter, so that is what I would like to do.

On what she does to relax and have fun: I love playing my guitar. I always have my guitar with me. That is my favorite thing, is writing the music.

Selena's New Music Video "Magic" Premieres Today!!

The Disney Channel is premiering Selena Gomez’s new music video “Magic” today, Friday, July 24th, at 8:59 p.m. ET/PT. Radio Disney will premiere the song, which is featured on the soon to be released "Wizards of Waverly Place" soundtrack, earlier that day (3:00 p.m. PT/ 6:00p.m. ET).
The music video features scenes from the upcoming "Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie," which premieres Friday, August 28 on Disney Channel.
The"Wizards of Waverly Place" soundtrack releases worldwide Tuesday, August 4 and includes musical selections inspired by "Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie" and the Emmy-nominated series "Wizards of Waverly Place," including four songs performed by Gomez.
The "Magic" music video will premiere after the first episode in the "Wizards vs. Vampires" four-episode programming event which follows the Russo family and their encounters with the Van Heusens, a family of vampires who own a competing sandwich shop. Selena Turns to Demi for Music Advice!

Selena Gomez has been a busy girl lately. What with finishing the movie Ramona and Beezus beginning the third season of Wizards of Waverly Place you’d think she wouldn’t have time for much else. But there’s ONE more thing that Selena is making time for these days: her music. Being BFF with Demi Lovato, Selena has found it helpful to turn to Demi for musical advice, “Demi has always been more musically involved,” Selena shared with us, “So the moment that I got to play my music for her was kind of asking for approval first. You know, I played her my music and I was nervous. I was like, ‘What is she gonna think?’” So, what DID Demi think when she first heard Selena’s songs? “She loved it,” Selena beamed, “She loves all my stuff. She always tell me, ‘Send it, send it, send it’ so she can jam out to it, which was really big for me because she’s more into that, so it was really nice to have her perspective on it.” Even if you’re famous like Selena, there really is NOTHING better than the support from your BFF.

Tiger Beat and BOP uncovered the TRUTH behind Selena’s yellow bday roses! When they asked Sel about the flowers, she spilled that her BFF Taylor Swift wasn’t the one who sent them. Tay DID send her a gorgeous bouquet, but turns out the producer of Selena’s show Wizards of Waverly Place was the one behind the yellow roses. Thanks for clearing that up, Sel!

Miley to Star as Batgirl?!!

The scene is set. The Joker has finally got them now: Batman and Robin, trapped, with nowhere to run. It seems like it's all over until... Miley to the rescue! Yes at least one internet report claims that Miley Cyrus, looking to become a "serious" actress after years on Hannah Montana, is working hard to get the role of Batgirl in the sequel to the super hero hit, The Dark Knight! Sources told The Globe that Miles showed up at Warner Brothers in full Batgirl costume to try and convince the producers. One insider said she even wrote some dialogue to show off her acting skills! Well, she's already an expert on hiding her identity from her Hannah days, so we're pretty sure she could pull off that part of it. But all the fighting scenes? When Will Kevin Get Married??

Now that Kevin Jonas is engaged, the next question is: When will him and his fiancé Danielle get married? Well, according to Mr. Jonas, it won't be until Kevin turns 22. "I was 20 [when I got married]," Mr. Jonas says. "Kevin will be at least 22."

Trace is very proud of Miley!

I love how the whole Cyrus family supports each other 100%. Miley Cyrus’ older brother Trace Cyrus was asked if he is protective of Miley. He said, "No, I don’t feel protective of her I just feel very, very proud, that’s it."

Trace is the frontman for the band Metro Station and will be supporting Miley on her world tour, which starts in Septemeber.

The "High School Musical" star reveals to Parade how she deals with all the gossip surrounding her very public life, plus how she's handling life on her own since moving into her own house.

Lessons learned after nude photos surfaced on the Internet: "That's why I'm extremely guarded. I really do try to watch everything I say. Because one little tiny slip, and it's like the world is coming to an end! It is hard. I do always have a wall up. But I feel by doing it, I keep myself safe. I try to live my life, do what I want, and just let everything else follow along. I try not to read the blogs or what people say about me. Because that's what brings everybody down -- no matter what you do, you're always going to have haters."

Hiding from the paparazzi: "I keep my head down. Usually I'll run around in hoodies, and I've got this massive head of hair, and I throw it all in my face so that nobody can see me. But if I want to do something, I'm going to do it, and if people recognize me, the fans, then great. They're the reason why 'High School Musical' is what it is, and they're the reason why I'm here, so I'm thankful."

A self-admitted mama's girl: "I got her fired once. I was calling her at work way too much, because I missed her. Back then, I was so shy, I did not want to leave her side. I would call her at work nonstop, to the point where she got fired. It was horrible."
Coming out of her shell: "[In middle school] I started to get into fashion, which tends to make you a little more popular. But when I was on the stage, I felt like I was hiding behind a person, and I adored it. My parents had 'Grease' lying around, and I watched that and fell in love with it. It was interesting to see people moving stories along with songs -- it was exciting and different. 'West Side Story' was one of my favorites. ['High School Musical'] was the best thing that could and possibly will ever happen to me. I got to make lifelong friends. I had the most incredible time of my life."

Moving out of her parents' house: "I feel like I need to earn my right to have a home. It's nice to be spoiled, but I want to be able to know that I can do it. [My parents] know I'm growing up, and they're proud that I can actually have my own home. Of course I think they're worried to a certain extent. But they're so proud of me."

Getting used to life on her own: "It's weird living by myself. I thought I'd be the person who, every time I hear a little noise, would hide under my bed. But I've fallen in love with my home. When I'm in there, I feel safe. I don't think I've gotten scared once -- knock on wood -- in my house by myself. Then again, I do sleep with the TV on so that I don't hear all the little clinks and clanks at night!"

Is there a magazine cover that Taylor Swift hasn't graced yet? The 19-year-old star is everywhere! Now you can see her posing in Glamour's August "Jeans" issue, which hits newsstands on July 7. Although she's clearly a country queen, Taylor insists she's still just a regular gal. Read on to find out what she looks for in a guy, and why she calls out real people in her songs. On her lifestyle: "I've never felt like I needed to tone down being seen as a regular person. When I first started doing MySpace, I wrote my bio in the first person. I've approached my whole career like that -- I don't see that ever changing.

On being a workaholic: "I get really restless when I haven't worked for a day and a half. I have a recurring dream that people are lined up next to my bed, waiting for autographs and taking pictures of me!"

Is Mitchel Musso Leaving Hannah Montana??!!

Mitchel Musso has a lot of “Hannah Montana” and Oliver Oken fans worried that he is leaving the show. He has been focusing on his music career this summer and in the last episode of “Hannah Montana” season 3, Oliver leaves on a six month tour. So, what does this all mean?
Mitchel said, “In the last episode of Season 3, Oliver leaves on a six-month tour, so I might miss the first couple of weeks of [Season 4]. But other than that, you’ll see me. And I’ll be back with a lot more music. So yes, I’m taking a little time off to work on my music, but I have a bunch of new acting gigs coming up, too. I can’t talk about them just yet, but keep your ears open.”
The “Hannah Montana” star kicked off his tour last week in his home state of Texas. He’ll be on a 38-city tour and will alternate between headlining and opening nine shows for Metro Station, which features his brother Mason and Miley’s brother Trace.

Have you had a chance to listen to Demi Lovato’s second album, Here We Go Again, yet? If you have, tell me what you think about it! And when you compare it to her first album, Don’t Forget, you can definitely tell it’s more personal.

In regards to her first headlining tour and second album releasing, Demi said, “I know a lot about myself now. Once you find yourself — or at least have an idea of who you are and your musical style and sense — because it’s going to keep changing — it gets easier."
Demi was first introduced by the Jonas Brothers, which is not a bad thing…at all. Her first album hit No. 2 on the charts.
In response to the Jonas Brothers, she said, “They gave me a lot of help because I was so new to this. But with this next album, it gets a little bit more personal, a little bit more in tune with my past, with things that I’ve been through."
